Existem três áreas fundamentais: area de fogão/ fornos; área de lavagem/preparação; área de frigorifico; área de mercearia. Em Feng Shiu algumas destas áreas pertencem a elementos diferentes e com uma relação destrutiva: fogão/forno é Fogo, o lava loiça/frigorifico/ arca congeladora são Água. Se estas energias não forem harmonizadas a cozinha tornar-se-à o caos a que muitas vezes a associamos. Para fazer a harmonização devem ser incluidas formas ou cores de terra e de metal.

There are three key areas: stove/oven; washing/ prep; fridge/ grossery. For Feng Shiu these areas belong to different elements and they have a destructive relationship: stove/ oven are Fire, dish washer / fridge / freezer are Water. If these energies are not harmonized the kitchen will become the chaos that we often associate to a kitchen.To harmonize we must includ Earth and Metal colors/ shapes.

Incluir formas/ cores de madeira numa cozinha pode completar o ciclo produtivo dos elementos, no entanto, antes de colocar na divisão todos os elementos do feng-shui deve ter-se em atenção o mapa energético da divisão que só pode ser calculado considerando a localização e data de construção da casa e das suas divisões. Se houver limitações na possibilidade de uso de cores/ elementos que estão naturalmente numa cozinha (fogo/ água) ou nos elementos necessários à harmonização (terra/ metal) podem ser sempre feitos ajustamentos. Por exemplo, o lava-loiça pode ser ocultado por um prolongamento da bancada feito em inox ou madeira (faia, carvalho...).
