A reabilitação urbana, a humanização do espaço citadino equivale sempre à reconstrução de uma comunidade, e à criação de uma identidade comum que possa unir essa comunidade e seja promotora da sua segurança e prosperidade.

No entanto, os meios e a capacidade de renovar são divergentes de cidade para cidade e de bairro para bairro. Reabilitar fica caro, implica mudanças nos hábitos e modos de vida impondo novos valores que os habitantes, muitas vezes,  tem dificuldades em incorporar. A arte é por isso uma dimensão fundamental na reabilitação e nas partes mais pobres das cidades a arte pode mesmo salvar.

Urban regeneration, humanizing the city space is like reconstructimg a community, and creating a common identity that can unite that community and promote its security and prosperity.

However, the means and the ability to renew are different from city to city and from neighborhood to neighborhood. Rehabilitating is expensive, requires changes in habits and ways of life, it imposes new values that the inhabitants often have difficulties in incorporating. Art is therefore a fundamental dimension in the rehabilitation and in cities poorer parts art can really save.

Um dos artistas de urban art que mais admiro é Vhils (Alexandre Farto). Não é um nome desconhecido, muito pelo contrário, apareceu na lista 'Art and Style' [Arte e Estilo] da Forbes. A revista recordou que o jovem português “fez murais em mais de 50 cidades de todo o mundo”, sendo que a maioria “mostra rostos, feitos com uma técnica que combina escavação e pintura”.

A street artist i most admire is Vhils (Alexandre Farto). It is not an unknown name, on the contrary, he appeared on the list 'Art and Style' [Art and Style] Forbes. The magazine pointed out that the Portuguese young artist "made murals in more than 50 cities around the world," and most "show faces, made with a technique that combines excavation and painting."
